A UK Educational Guardian is a responsible adult or professional guardianship organisation based in the United Kingdom, who acts as a local parent for international students studying in UK schools while their parents live overseas.

A UK Educational Guardian is a designated, responsible adult or accredited guardianship agency based in the UK that provides essential welfare, host family arrangement, travel arrangement, and 24/7 emergency support for international students. They act on behalf of the students’ parents, bridge communication with schools, attend parents' meetings, and arrange a host family for students during school holidays or in emergencies. 

Do I need a UK guardian?

Yes. If the student is under 18, UKVI requires suitable care arrangements in the UK as part of the Child Student visa application.

 The nominated guardians must: 

• Be A British Citizen passport or hold settled status

• Be based in the UK and agree to take responsibility for the student

• Provide a signed Letter of Undertaking confirming their role

• Provide proof of immigration status (if not British)

• Meet UKVI criminality requirements

• Provide contact details

• Explicitly consent to the care arrangements
